Making The Internet Work For Your Business
I found some very interesting statistics and information about the internet that I think are relevant to any form of business. These statistics help show that there are ever increasing technology standards and needs in this advanced age of technology. These statistics are especially interesting when looking at from a business standpoint. Businesses need strong websites that are going to demonstrate the capabilities and strengths of the company.
Currently there are 1,802,330,457 people using the internet. That’s one out of every four people using the internet. The internet proves to be a more powerful and faster growing tool then Television or radio. The internet reached fifty million users in five years. It took television thirteen years, and radio thirty eight years, to reach fifty million viewers/listeners. The internet is such a fast growing, wildly popular form of media.
There’s almost no way to compare these three forms of entertainment; the internet is proving that people are changing the way they receive information. People don’t want to be advertised to by interruption, like in radio and television. They want to be able to search for things online themselves and compare multiple sites to find the best deal. The sheer number of domain names is astronomical and speaks to the demand for effective websites. There are currently 121,013,927 unique domains.
From a business standpoint, it’s important to be able to get your name out there, and to draw in those key website visitors. In order to stand out websites need to be good looking, easily navigable from any device, and SEO optimized. If your business has an outdated, slow loading, ugly website people may think your business is closed, or that you just can’t meet the stand of your competitors. Shockingly, a recent survey by 1&1 Internet reported that up to 40% of small-to-medium sized businesses still don’t have a website. The first step is creating and developing a website that’s going to stand out and show the world how awesome your business is.
